The Second Homecoming
On 29th August 2026, the second "Homecoming" event took place.
This was an opportunity for past beneficiaries of the Children's Home - friends who grew up together - to get together, share in each other's news, celebrate life, and meet and share their stories with children currently at the Children's Home.
As with any other Ugandan celebration, the day included lots of food, dancing and singing.
Emma Semuko, Social Worker at Victory Child Care Project writes...
"It was such a beautiful moment reconnecting with former residents at Ty Cariad Home on Saturday 29th August. They were happy to meet again after a long time and to see how much each of them had changed."
"It was exciting to hear the various stories of transformation made possible by the love and support of our precious donors and sponsors over the years.
Former residents were grateful for the support received and happy about the kind of people they’ve become like;
Samuel is enrolled at Makerere University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education
Sharon graduated at University, she’s happily married, has a beautiful baby boy and is looking forward to celebrating her second wedding anniversary in November 2026
Hadijah and Simon are both in business
Viola works at a restaurant and plans to start her own restaurant business
Pius is involved in website design, carpentry, and interior design
Sarah is a tailor and tutor. She is grateful to earn extra income by teaching others tailoring, fashion, and design skills
Hadija generously donated five loaves of bread during the homecoming event. She shared that the bread brought back sweet memories of the days when they used to enjoy it at the home. Wanting to recreate that joy, she decided to bring some for the young children so they too could enjoy it."
