Christmas Appeal - Total Announced - £5,005.85
What an amazing appeal, and thanks to you, we have smashed the target with an amazing £5,005.85 raised!
Our first target was to raise £3,000. This money has been used to provide:-
21 Pairs of school shoes (£15 each) – for 21 community children supported on the Community Education Support Project. Many currently go to school with no shoes, or with worn out and broken shoes.
37 Food Packages (£36 each) – for community families, families of resettled children, and families of staff who give their time each Christmas. Each package includes bread, sugar, soda, eggs, spices, margarine, beef, chicken, pasta, cooking oil, milk, and contains enough food for 20 meals.
Christmas Party (£10 each) – a party at a water and play park for all the children at the Children’s Home, and those supported in the community (75 in total). Also included is chicken and chips, and soda.
Christmas Food (£10 each) – Christmas food for the Children’s Home for the Christmas Season’s celebrations – enough to feed 60 people.
All children and staff look forward to Christmas, and this year is no exception. Christmas in Uganda is a time for celebration, a time for feasting, and a time for singing and dancing.
The target was then increased by £840 so that we could also provide 45 pairs of school shoes for children at the Children's Home, and 9 suitcases for children who are leaving the Children’s Home and being reintegrated into families, either through resettlement or foster placement. These will all be purchased in the New Year.
The £1,165.85 extra which has been raised will make a tremendous difference, and could either provide food for all the children and staff at the home for 3 weeks; pay the staff salaries of all 16 staff for 3 weeks; or provide Secondary education for 1 term for 9 children. THANK YOU!
