Giving Gifts of Hope at Christmas - Madinah's Story

Once again we have partnered with BIS Group (www.bis-group.co.uk) who will be doubling your donations again this year up to a total of £1,000  – for every £20 you donate, they will add a further £20!

Last year, with your help, we were able to provide a Christmas and Boxing Day meal with Christmas presents for 72 children at the Victory Child Care Project’s Children’s Home in Uganda (including visitors), 16 staff at the home, and over 50 people from 18 families in the community.  This made a tremendous difference to all who received, but also gave hope to families in the community who were encouraged by this support.  But it’s not just the food parcels that they appreciate, it’s the hope and ongoing support they receive that makes a lasting difference – just ask Madinah.

Madinah’s Story

In 2016 Madinah’s daughter Aisha was enrolled into the Community Education Support Project (CESP).  Before the support, three of her children were not in school since she had no job and no capital to sustain them in school. She used to collect bottles and wash clothes for her and her children’s survival.  Madinah and family received a Christmas package last year, and she said that it is something she will always remember.

Madinah was enrolled in the Income Generating Project and in March this year received grant of 500,000 Ugandan Shillings (about £100) so that she could start her own business.  She used the money to start up a stall in Nakawa market selling a variety of commodities – tea leaves, pots, charcoal stoves, rat traps, brooms, cooking oil, and other items. With her business, she is able to cater for the needs of her family as well as working hard to expand it. She is planning to add some more items like sugar and maize flour because her customers keep asking for them.

She is very appreciative of the support, encouragement and hope that Tŷ Cariad Africa has been able to give her and her family.  Madinah is now in control of the finances and her family’s future.

Your donation will be matched by BIS Group for double the impact, and will help to feed and support the children at Victory Child Care Project’s Children’s Home, and children and families in the local community of Namugongo.
